Motor mounting 2

Motor mounting 2

Then it was just a case of refitting the motors. For a couple of reasons the offset gearbox output mod suggested by Model Slipway would not have helped me with mounting nut access and would have made mounting harder due to the extra height used by the rubber mounts. So I have kept gearboxes at 6 o'clock outputs and I will have to make other arrangements to access the outboard motor mount fastenings.

I still managed to get the starboard motor a touch out of line (the forwards mounts are a bit to starboard of correct) so I had to file the holes in the motor baseplate oval to allow this to be corrected. Vertical trim is done by fitting/removing washers under the mounts. A 4mm rod was passed up the propshaft to help with aligning the motors - seen on the port here.
