For my Walthers coil cars (special gondolas) there are steel bars supplied that run down the spine of the cars, but of course these are magnetic. I replaced these with two stacked 5mm wide strips of the lead flashing. As with the coke hoppers this is nothing like enough weight so I also filled up the cavities on each side with lead shot held in place with diluted PVA glue. I also put some shot in the spaces marked W after this picture was taken. |
