The original keel skeg needed extending down to match the new hull level, but I decided to extend it sternwards, taper it and add a (dummy) thruster as well. This was done by adding 1mm plastic sides to the original which ends just forward of the thruster tube.
From my initial float test I knew the boat would need ballast at the stern, and with my concerns about changing the CoG/CoB relationship I wanted to get more weight low down too. So I filled the new spaces created in the skeg extension with nearly a pound of lead and also added some sheets - seen at the left here - which will be buried in the new hull casing. |
