This looks rather like picture 1 earlier, but you can see that I have made a fillet with epoxy along the base of the tapered side piece (inside and out). This provides proper strength and watertighting - the superglue was never meant to be the final fix - and also for a slightly more streamlined appearance.

This area is now almost ready for filling.
